"The Legend is back...

The legend is back, but this time with a gourmet market and

cuisine cooked with locally

farmed vegetables and microgreens. While it may not

be a throwback to the old

Florida Keys, Green Turtle remains a must stop for anyone looking for a fabulous dining experience. Some old menu

items remain -- like the famous beer battered basket of turtle

fries and the luscious conch chowder.

But the new menu items are nothing to sneer at either.

Small plates including braised Florida lobster with tomato

chive and sage, butchers tenderloin "Dianne" with

Yukon gold potato mash, and whitewater clams in Thai

green curry coconut sauce

with Key lime and basil are enough for an excellent main course, but don't miss entrees such as local snapper

wrapped in shredded filo,

tomato, feta, olive and basil

salad, and whatever you do,

do not miss the chocolate turtle mud ice cream pie...

"My favorite in the Keys!

Went there as a child back

in the 50's. Was my father's favorite. Now it's mine!

Went there recently as a

large family gathering, so

got to taste many menu items.

I am sure my favorite

was the pan seared scallops (HUGE) served over a

bed of garlic potatoes.

It was simply wonderful.

The bar drinks are made

generous and delicious. Atmosphere is bistro noisy,

but I love all the old photos.

I am soooo glad they've

rebuilt after the hurricane!

They say that pirates buried

their treasure on

 the Florida Keys.

Well, The Green Turtle Inn

is our modern day treasure

on the Keys"

"It's modern and upscale..."

"I went here with my husband after reading the all the good reviews on yelp. We were in Islamorada for a mini fishing getaway and were staying at the resort across the street from The Green Turtle Inn. We went right when lunch was ending so we could get the lunch pricing since I read on here that it was pricey. I consider myself pretty frugal and I did not find that the prices were that bad. I thought they were reasonable for the Keys. The place is actually really nice inside. It's modern and upscale. At the time we went we ended up being the only customers in a restaurant because it was the time where they transition to from dinner to lunch. The staff was getting everything ready for their dinner rush. They were sitting at the bar folding napkins and putting votives on all the tables. That made me feel a little weird, kind of like if I worked there but was just taking my lunch break..lol. But all in all It didn't bother me that much.  They have to prep for dinner at some point! On to the food. My husband had a blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich and he loved it. I had the crab cakes and they were hands down the best crab cakes I've ever had. The service was quick and attentive. I had the Key Lime pie for dessert which I thought was good but then when I had the one at Robbie's I changed my mind. This one was more on the sweet side and I like it more on the tart side. I guess that's really up to personal preference.Overall this place is great and I will definitely be returning when I go back to the keys."

"Just plain awesome."

"We came back on a weekday night after trying a Sat. night dinner with a long wait. The kids menu was economical and my kids loved their food. The "adult" menu is a little on the pricey side, but worth it. My wife had crab cakes, which were some of the best I've tasted. I had the yellowtail flounder "catch-of-the-day" plaintain crusted over rice and veggies. All was cooked to perfection and VERY tasty. Key lime pie was homemade and delicious. The server was very attentive and friendly. One of the best meals we had here!"

"Excellent............... period"

"The turtle sleeps on Mondays but the other days it is fully awake. Busy restaurant but it is worth waiting if you have to because the food is simply great. Have a drink at the bar first, and then enjoy al the goodies the have on the menu. Excellent service and food brought to you with a smile. Highly recommended !!"            ~ TripAdvisor.com; August 2011

"Excellent Food, Great Experience"

“Vacation Breakfast!”

"My wife and I were in Islamorada for a week staying at the nearby Cheeca Resort. We would sleep in and make it over to the Green Turtle for breakfast just before they would stop serving breakfast at 11:30 am.

I have to say that the food was great...I had the Turtle breakfast one morning: 2 bacon, 2 eggs, 2 sausage, and a side of grits (best grits I've had since I was a kid). My wife had an omelette each morning ... she loved it. The coffee seemed really great there as well.

The bill pleased us the most. At our resort down the street, the breakfast buffet was $25 a person! At the Green Turtle Inn, breakfast for both of us was $21. The decor inside the Green Turtle is really cool too. Go here for vacation breakfast ... you won't regret it."

“Best All Around Food, Atmosphere and Service in the Florida Keys”

"My wife, kids and I have now been to the Green Turtle Inn located in Islamorada in the Florida Keys 3 times recently, and at least twice in previous stays in the Keys. We have now had the pleasure of eating breakfast, lunch and dinner at this restaurant, and each and every time are treated to wonderful food and 5 star service. Especially enjoyable is the atmosphere of the restaurant, which has dozens of old and new photos of famous people that either dined at the restaurant, or caught record fish in the area. Beautiful decor, sort of an "old school" feel as I understand the restaurant has been there for decades, but very clean and impeccably kept. It is definitely on our "list" in our coming visits back to the Keys."       ~ TripAdvisor.com; July 2011

"Would defintiely reccommend"

"Went here for dinner while in the keys.  It was not my 1st choice but ur first choice was close don tuesday nights.

This was my favorite meal while in the keys.   I had Hogfish as an entree and it was perfect.  I have never had this kind of fish before and I am not sure if it was the sauce and sides that made it great or the fish, but either way it was perfect. The drinks were strong and the Key lime pie was really good....The price like all find dining resteraunts in the keys was reasonable right around $100 without tip.             ~ Yelp.com; July 2011

“It was everything that came recommended to us.”

We stopped in for breakfast, even though their prime rib dinner was recommended to us, and it was sooo good. Their water has fresh apples and others fruit soaked in, and everyone was happy. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back.                                             ~ TripAdvisor.com; June 2011

“the jewel of the keys!”

"My wife and I plus another couple were reccommended to this place by our fishing guide. We took in our catch and the chef prepared it in three aboslutely fantastic ways. I love the blackened with shrimp Creole sauce, my wife loved the crispy onion crusted and we all thought the Cuban fried with garlic lobster salsa was the best thing we've ever tasted. We got to meet the chef later to thank him and even though it was very busy, he took the time to shake all of our hands and thank us for coming. The service was very good, the wine list is very good, and the food is over the top. By far, the best food we had during our two week stay in the keys including Miami and Key West at far more famous and expensive resaurants. If you go to the Keys, this place should be a definite stop."

"Paradise to the palate in the Keys"

"Wow...we found a treasure. We've been coming to the keys for over 30 years and have always passed it. It was always my mother's favorite restaurant and now version 2 rivals the best South Beach restaurants. I had the Green Turtle salad and my partner had the tuna tartar. For entrees we had the pappardelle and it was excellent. From the first phone call with Eric to make the reservation to the friendly and efficient service by Nicki it was the perfect way to start our weekend in the Keys!"    ~TripAdvisor.com; May 2011

"Never Been Disappointed with the Food"

"As a local, we travel from Marathon to Islamorada often and never really had a favorite place to stop and eat. The Green Turtle has become my favorite! I've had lunch there several times and have never been disappointed! French Dip, yummy! Large portions too. Had a couple of specials as well and they were fantastic. Atmosphere is very nice and like an upscale sports bar. The sugar scrub in the bathroom for you hands is also a nice plus! Definitely stop in! "

"Best part of our trip"

"My wife and I went to the Green Turtle after our fishing guide reccomended it as a great place. We arrived on a Wednesday night without a reservation and couldn't be seated because the place was packed so we had a drink at the bar and were seated about twenty minutes later by a very nice waitress. She reccomended the scallops and the "steak and taters" (a New York Strip with truffle tater tots). We ordered both and both were absolutely over the top. For dessert we split the bread pudding with bourbon sauce and it was fantastic as well. The only problem with the whole evening was the popularity of the place. It is loud and lively so don't expect a quite, romantic dinner for two. Definitely make a reservation or take your chances.
Good service, GREAT food. A must when in Islamorada."

"Awesome burger!"

We stopped at the Green Turtle Inn for lunch because of the reviews we saw on Tripadvisor. Very glad we did - we tried the conch chowder and the cheese burger - both were fantastic! Definitely go - if it's for dinner and it's Prime rib night - make a reservation!                   ~TripAdvisor.com; May 2011

"5 star rating"

"A lot of places in The Keys can cook a nice piece of fish. Out yellow snapper at The Green Turtle was perfect. But what made it stand out was the polished service--something a bit scarce in the area. Our waitress had that effortless grace that made for a relaxing evening. Quite interesting wine list--though a bit pricey. But the cheapest wine on the menu was excellent. Highly recommended on all fronts."                 ~Yelp.com; April 2011

Had the special surf and turf of steak and scallops and

it was delicious...a lovely meal."  ~TripAdvisor.com

"This place rivals the best restaurants anywhere."

"After reading other reviews; the good and the bad, we decided to give the place a shot on a weeknight knowing that weekends are always booked. We were seated immediately and given a small complimentary glass of champagne (nice touch). Our server was very nice and recommended both menu choices and wine selections. I had the roasted chicken for $19 and my wife ordered the mussels appetizer as her meal for $14. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Crispy brown skin and juicy on the inside. The mussels were however shockingly fantastic. The broth was buttery and full of flavor from little slices of Cajun sausage and caramelized onion and had just the right amount of heat and acidity. It could compete with any dish on the planet. The kitchen is open, so we had a chance to thank the chef as we left. Even though it was busy he took the time to shake our hands and thank us for coming. We can't wait to come back to the Keys and the Green Turtle will be one of our regular stops for sure."  ~Tripadvisor.com; April 2011

"Outstanding Restaurant"

"Food was excellent. We come from Miami often and this is staple on our stop. Everything keeps improving over the last 2 years. Server was pleasant and informative. And the wine list was diversified and impressive. Should be a MUST VISIT for anyone going to Islamorada. Don't miss the lobster lasagna."           ~Yelp.com; April 2011

 "When in Islamorada..."

"We've been coming to Islamorada for years and for the first time went to the Green Turtle Inn. What a find! We went this past Thursday for dinner and our server, Katie, was the greatest. Not only did she give us great service, but her recommendations on food and wine were spot on. The lobster lasagna was outrageously delicious as was the osso bucco- my Italian grandmother couldn't have made it better! The fresh catch (yellowtail snapper) was perfectly cooked and very tasty. We were also pleasantly surprised when, after dinner, a group of local musicians showed up and played some incredible music. They do this every Thursday evening starting at 10 pm, so I recommend going for a later supper so as not to miss this open jam night. Overall the Green Turtle has a very cool vibe- friendly and professional staff and excellent food and wine. On our next trip to Islamorada we will definitely make this restaurant our regular hangout!"                ~Yelp.com; April 2011

"Simply the best!"

"This is the best place to go in Islamorada FL. We wish this place were near our house; we'd be regulars. It has a very lively atmosphere, an amazing wine list, and very good food. You definitely need to make a reservation. From the outside this place looks like an old, large-scale dive bar. It is not. It is very nicely decorated with old-world hardwood throughout the inside. Service is very quick. We asked our waiter to slow things down a bit, and she totally did so. I don't think they move things so quickly to flip tables as much as they want to provide great service. We had several glasses of wine, soups, dinners, and desserts. I really can't say enough about this place. Great atmosphere, great food, great service, this is our #1 place in Islamorada (FL)...This place deserves to be #1 by a mile!!" ~Trip Advisor; March '10

"The best Key Lime Pie Ever!"

"The Green Turtle Inn is worth a stop on your way to or from Key West.  We only stopped for lunch but each item we ordered was excellent.  The fried conch was the best we had in the keys.  If you're into alternative meats I highly recommend the turtle soup. For my taste the Inn had the best key lime pie.  Until the Green Turtle pie I never understood the world's fascination with key lime.  I understand now..."

"Excellent food, great selection & atmosphere"

"After one of the best breakfasts we have ever had, my husband and I returned that same evening for dinner. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and presented beautifully, the menu varied and in a nice, upscale atmosphere. I only wish we had found it sooner because we would have eaten all of our meals there!"

"Fine cooking, great menu and fresh ingredients resulted in a fabulous meal."

"For my family's week vacation in the Keys this was our first and best dinner meal among many costing the same or more elsewhere. Lovely service, the manager and waitress were gracious and accomodating bringing an immediate sample of the wine of the day for everyone. It only got better from there. The crab cakes, the seared scallops, the plaintain encrusted grouper were imaginative and delicious. Well priced this place (Green Turtle Inn) is a gem."                                      ~ Trip Advisor; Aug. 2010

"Can't wait to go back!"

"(We) happened upon the Green Turtle (Inn) by accident one night on our way back to Key Largo from Key West and how lucky were we! Staff is knowledgeable, efficient and very friendly. Food was delicious - I had fish with almond crust -gorgeous and my husband reckons the steak was one of the best he has ever had - some praise indeed as he considers himself a bit of an expert. They also had a decent children's menu. I would recommend the green turtle and cant wait to return to the keys if only to eat here again." ~Trip Advisor; July '09

"Exceptional dining experience."

"I remembered the old Green Turtle and what a great resurrection the newly re-invigorated Turtle is! We dined there Friday and were blown away by the food, vibe and service. From the complimentary spumante appertiff to the impressive value packed wine list we could not believe this was the Keys. Great menu and exceptional preparations. Fun and knowledgeable servers. Room is noisy but full of energy. Don't miss!"           ~Zaggats.com; Dec. '09
